Privacy Policy

for the sporting event ParAthletics (Nottwil). The Swiss Paraplegics Association (SPA), Wheelchair Sport Switzerland (WSS) (called data owner below) is responsible for the collection, storage and processing of all data in conjunction with the event. This is based on the «Data Processing Agreement» with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

By registering for one of the events mentioned above, participant/s (athlete or accompanying person) consent to this Privacy Policy. This is also valid when registering for others or for additional persons.

The data owner assumes that these persons have given the person registering authorisation to register. In the case of registrations by under-age athletes, the data owner assumes that the consent of the legal representatives has been obtained.

1.        General provisions
This Privacy Policy is an integral component of the contract between the data owner (Swiss Paraplegics Association, Kantonstrasse 40, 6207 Nottwil, Switzerland) and all participants.

By registering and transferring the participant fee, all participants consent to this Privacy Policy.

The data owner is responsible under data protection law for collecting and processing personal data as part of the event.

The athletes must also register for the competition with the International Paralympic Committee.

2.        Commitment to the protection of personal data
The protection of the personal data of athletes and other participants is important to us as the data owner. The data owner therefore acts in accordance with Swiss data protection law (FADP and DPO) and if applicable, according to the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In addition to this Privacy Policy, please refer to the privacy policy which applies for the use of the website spv.ch.

3.        Registration of participants
The registered persons undertake to only provide the data owner with their own personal data and that of third parties if these parties, or their legal representatives, know the applicable privacy policy and are entitled to do so according to applicable data protection law. The data owner may request registered persons at any time to prove that these requirements – in particular the consent of the registered participant/s – have been met within a deadline and can otherwise withdraw from all contracts without further ado.

4.        Registration for the event
For the purposes of registration and performance at the event, participants are requested to provide the following mandatory information: their last name, first name, gender, address, nationality, date of birth, phone number and email address. For athletes, the starting category (classification) and the SDMS ID must also be provided. Other data will only be collected on a voluntary basis and only if it is required to provide a further service. We process this data for the purpose of organising the event, as well as to process the contract concluded with you.

5.        Obtaining additional services
Other data of the participants refers to optional services (such as accommodation, catering, transports). Additional information will be obtained for this purpose (for example, regarding food intolerances or special requirements for accommodation/transport).

The data owner and/or its partners (such as hotel, transport companies, catering providers) only use this data to provide the services ordered.

6.        Creation and publication of starting and ranking lists
The last name, first name, date of birth, nationality, starting category and the results will be published in the starting and ranking lists. The complete address will not be published.

The ranking lists will be published in the Internet on www.spv.ch and on the pages of the international association (IPC/World Para Athletics). Results and information on the competition will also be published in press releases, social media posts and other means of communication of the SPA.

7.        Data processing for marketing purposes
If you register for the event via our website and provide your email address here, we will use it to send mails or newsletters in connection with the event and/or similar offers, provided you do not object to this. An objection is permitted at any time. You can send this to us via email at rss@spv.ch or in writing.

8.        No automated decision-making and profiling
We do not carry out either automated decision-making or profiling.

9.        Data forwarding
We will only forward data which you provide to us to those partners who work together with us for the event. In particular, these are:

  • perü timing, Lengnau
  • International Paralympic Committee (IPC)
  • World Para Athletics (WPA)
  • Transport companies: Gössi Carreisen and Eurobus AG
  • Hotels: Campus Sursee and Hotel Sempachersee
  • Organisations of the Swiss Paraplegic Group
  • Livestream partners: Upstream media and the commentators

Only the information which partners need for fulfilling their mandate is forwarded. The data may only be used to fulfil the mandate.

10.     Rights of persons concerned
You have the right to request information on which data about you is being processed. You also have the right to request the correction, deletion or restriction of processing of your data as well as, if applicable, the right to data transmission. You can also object to the use of data for marketing purposes.

These rights exist if no statutory retention obligations or other legitimate interests conflict with the request. In addition, if applicable to you, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.

You are entitled to withdraw your consent to data processing at any time. You can assert your rights with the data owner.

11.     Data security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to secure the data of our participating athletes, in particular from intentional or accidental destruction or falsification as well as from access by unauthorised third parties.

12.     Changes to the Privacy Policy
We reserve the rate to change this Privacy Policy at any time. The version published on our website applies.

This version of the Privacy Policy is the basis for translations into English and French. The German version is valid. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
