Badminton
The TK Badminton was founded in Nottwil in 1996. Since 1996 Switzerland offers a variety of tournaments, which are integrated within the normal (foot passenger) tournaments. Since 1998, the Swiss championships are integrated within the Swiss Open of Basel, as well as it leads several associations to accomplish wheelchair category tournaments. Badminton is very appropriate and adaptable to easily integrate pedestrians within a mixed double or single game.
What is Badminton
Wheelchair Badminton is carried out in singles or doubles. The plastic or feather shuttles (Federball) are played with a regular badminton racket. This sport can be played in a regular wheelchair, except using a badminton wheelchair offers greater mobility. The specialty wheelchair has large inwardly leaning wheels (official description: fall) and has a small wheel in the front and the back of it. This allows for the wheelchair to have better mobility and stability and protects as well as prevents the players to fall out while receiving high balls.
Since 1998 Swiss tournaments take place in the categories of doubles, as well as ladies- and gentlemen-singles.
